All About Me

Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise—being comfortable in the water is a huge accomplishment! My name is Melissa! I’m the instructor here at H2O Nassau!I have been swimming since 1996 when I began swimming competitively. I swam through high school and through college. My junior year I was named one of the co-captains of my swim team. I also compete in open ocean races.

Swimming is part of my DNA and I can’t imagine my life without it!I have experience teaching swim lessons from ages 2.5 and up! Beginners to advanced stroke technique. Pool drownings are a terrible occurance. In Pool safety is my #1 concern, and I want to make sure each child has the ability to save themselves if they were ever to fall into a pool. While lessons are serious and my main goal is for the kid to learn, we also have lots of fun too!!

When I am not swimming or in a pool you can find me at the beach, paddleboarding, boogie boarding with my two kids, hunting for sharks teeth, going to jujitsu at Gracie Fernandina, occasionally horseback riding and I love reading a good book! As a Swimming Instructor since 2003, I’m geared to teach everyone! It doesn't matter if you are beginner or a  professional; young or old; I will teach you how to feel confident in the 2 inches of water or 200 feet deep. It’s time to stop stalling; the best time to learn is now.
